On exhibit at Indigo Salon & Spa in Hillcrest

Watercolor portrait painting on exhibit
Bright Future 9 x 11.75 on Arches Cold Press Paper

Currently on exhibit through October 2019

I’m honored to be among several artists featured at Indigo Salon and Spa in Hillcrest. Indigo is a comfortable, modern salon that regularly features works by various local artists. The owners are involved in the art community and use this platform to help aspiring and seasoned artists gain exposure. The current art on display is of various media and most of the artwork is available for purchase. The salon also sells creative gifts and cosmetics as well as all forms of beauty services making it a unique salon experience in San Diego.

My subject of preference is portraits

While I admire a perfectly lit landscape or loose rendering of architecture, my personal preference is to paint portraits. Most specifically, up-close and well-lit portraits. My interest stems from spending over 28 years painting directly on my subjects’ faces due to working as a professional makeup artist and hairstylist. Through this experience I have learned to read every nuance of a face and all it’s unique characteristics. As a result, my paintings strive to convey the interesting and provocative expressions and features that each individual possess’. You can learn more about why I love to paint and how I began my journey into the watercolor art world here.

Certificate of Authenticity

All of my original watercolor art comes with a certificate of authenticity. I have four original pieces on display at Indigo Salon and hope you’ll get over to check them out. And perhaps get a massage while you’re there.

Commissioned watercolor paintings

The works of art on display at Indigo Salon are all originals. I am also excited to say I offer commissioned watercolor paintings which make a unique gift for someone special. I specialize in tightly cropped, photo-realistic portraits similar to the paintings on exhibit at Indigo. I’m also open to any ideas you may have and would love to hear from you.
